How to make your dreams come true. Really, though.
What dreams are made of
I recently challenged myself to write out my wildest dreams and deepest desires (not for the first time, but because it’s good to check in!). I reread the list and was surprised to see that they were all attainable.
Was I not thinking big enough?
I challenged myself to dive deeper, think bigger, to write about my WILDEST, most far-out dreams possible.
Once again, I found it difficult to name a single one that was “impossible.” Is this because my dreams are small? Not unique? Not creative?
No – it’s because my perspective on my dreams and desires has changed drastically.
This may sound funny… but I only realized earlier this year that my dreams can actually come true. They’re not some far fetched, unattainable reality. Even the wildest of them. I know I sound like a Disney movie… I mean, they were on to something, OKAY?
Believing in my own dreams – really, though
While it’s so easy to make fun of a Disney movie for the cheesy “follow your dreams” mantra, I admit that I didn’t believe in my own. It has taken years of dismantling limiting beliefs to come to a point where I can say, “oh, I could actually do this, like for real.” And feel confident enough to take action on them.
So why didn’t I believe this before? It seems obvious.
Because for too long, I clouded my dreams with fear, insecurity and self doubt. Too many of us do.
While it’s so easy to make fun of a Disney movie for the cheesy “follow your dreams” mantra, I admit that I didn’t believe in my own. It has taken years of dismantling limiting beliefs to come to a point where I can say, “oh, I could actually do this, like for real.”
I’m in a better place now. I’ve leveled up. I’m still learning, but I’ve leveled up. And now I have some critical questions for us.
Why don’t we admit our desires to the world, much less ourselves? Speaking our dreams out loud or writing them down is POWERFUL.
Why do we perpetuate this idea that dreams are only meant for a select few, special souls? I believe we’re all put on this Earth with some kind of divine assignment, and it’s just a matter of whether or now we own this power inside of us.
What if we believed that when we ask for something or try to manifest it, that we could easily experience that thing, or better? We sometimes struggle to imagine the wild, awesome, beautiful things that are ahead of us. They live outside of our consciousness; they don’t even cross our radar. But some of the wildest and most beautiful things come unexpectedly, outside the boundaries of our neat little plans.
Why are dreams kept as such unspeakable secrets?! It’s time to let your dreams be known to the world! In time, you may surprise yourself that your dreams are not only possible, but may already be on their way to find you once you start putting them out there.
Your starter kit to your wildest dreams:
Get them out of your head. Write your dreams down in a journal; make them tangible. Brainstorm, feel into it, and challenge yourself to be specific.
Speak your dreams into existence. Share your dreams with a loved one; speak them into existence. Encourage them to share, as well, if they feel called to do so.
Revisit them consistently. Read your journal entry multiple times a week, daily if you can, as part of your daily ritual, meditation, or bedtime routine. Update your list as your dreams evolve.
Trust the process. It’s often not until dreams start to come to life suddenly that we are shocked or surprised at the unfolding. But look, this doesn’t ever happen in our time. It’s on divine timing, the Universe’s timing, not ours.
So here’s to believing in your dreams in a whole new way – the truest way possible. Ask, pray, manifest, and then let go of their unfolding. It’s now your job to step back and watch as they come to life through inspired action and diving timing.
